Not my Mama’s cookiesPosted: May 4, 2011 | |
My mom’s cooking was legendary, and now that she is gone. All of the family’s cooking is compared to hers. Reproducing your Ma’s recipes are hard when she really didn’t follow a recipe or would just right down the ingredients and nothing else. It is big shoes to fill.
I started making these simple cookies years ago with much success. I have tried many ‘Best Chocolate Chip Cookie’ recipes, including my Mother’s, and these have been the favorite.
I made them over the weekend and one of my friends said, “This must be your mom’s recipe.” I just smiled and gave them another.
Chocolate Chip Cookies
1 c butter, softened
3/4 c sugar
3/4 c brown sugar, packed
1 tsp vanilla
2 1/4 c flour
1 tsp salt
1 tsp baking soda
Combine flour, salt and baking soda in a small bowl and set aside. Combine butter and sugars, beat until well creamed. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Add the vanilla and mix until well blended. Slowly add flour mixture, making sure it is well incorporated. Add the chocolate chips and stir until it is well blended. Place a tablespoon of dough 2 inches apart on a cookie sheet. Bake in 350 oven until the edges are golden brown and the centers are just set. Transfer to wire rack to cool
Makes about 3 1/2 dozen.
